Los Angeles Building Department Restaurant Permit Resource

The City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety 
has established a Restaurant & Hospitality Express Permitting and Construction Process to alleviate most of the confusion involved in the restaurant permitting process. This express process does not address the Conditional Use Permits issued by The City of Los Angeles Department of City Planning. 

Referred to as the "Multi Agency Case Management Network", this city program will provide (upon request) a "Food Service Establishment Case Manager (FSECM). You know you're working with a government entity with these names. The city actually refers to this new process as "hand-holding assistance".

The FSECM is only there to provide assistance, you will still need to go through all of the regular steps in the permit process. Only now, you will have to schedule additional meetings during the design, permitting, and construction phases. 

Lets hope this works out and simplifies the restaurant permit process in the City of Los Angeles. Everybody needs a little hand-holding now and then.
